Can you believe 2024 is almost over? As a team, we’re amazed by just how many things happened over the past 12 months. It was a year of many changes for Pro Sound Effects - all in the service of helping creators find and use the right sounds for any project. Take a look at what PSE was up to this year.
We released 21 exclusive sound effects libraries this year – nearly 160,000+ sounds in hundreds of categories – all developed from our award-winning sound artists and top recordists. Check them out and listen to the demos below.
In 2024, we welcomed two of the world’s premiere nature recordists to our roster, Lang Elliott and Chris Watson, further elevating our commitment to delivering world-class sound.
A major focus for this year was creating more content to better educate and equip creators to level up their sound game. Out of the 25+ blog posts and tutorials we published in 2024, here are some of the most popular:
This year marked the beginning of a new era for PSE - and for all creators who rely on our sounds to bring ideas to life. Your feedback was heard: our multiple platforms with different logins were confusing and inconvenient, so our team has been working hard behind the scenes to streamline the PSE experience and bring everything together in one place.
Needless to say, we’re proud to have introduced the new Pro Sound Effects platform this year, and we’re confident it will better serve your workflow. All Pro Sound Effects services are now connected with a single login - individual sounds, libraries, and SoundQ software - and all purchases are accessible from a single account.
SoundQ, our free desktop app, was leveled up this year with new features like partial word matching plus search and database improvements. Try out the newest version and let us know what you think. Organize unlimited local files, access PSE sounds in the cloud, and send directly to your timeline.

October brought the release of CORE 6 – the latest update to our signature library bundle series. Each CORE bundle was updated with a selection of our latest releases – expanding your toolset with our freshest sonic inspiration for even greater breadth, depth, and quality.
We understand the industry challenges that media professionals have faced over the last couple years. That’s why we’re now offering flexible subscription plans for CORE bundles - monthly or annual - so you can access the sounds you need, when you need them, without a big financial commitment.
In July 2024, the sound community lost a legendary talent when Ann Kroeber passed away at the age of 77. Ann was a remarkable field recordist and sound designer who, along with her husband Alan Splet, was instrumental in crafting the sound of beloved films like Blue Velvet, Dune (1984), Lost Highway, and Dead Poets Society (just to name a few). She was also a cherished partner of Pro Sound Effects, and we were heartbroken to hear of her passing. Read our tribute piece honoring Ann’s life and legacy with stories from those she impacted in the sound community.
We love to see all the incredible content created and shared across social media showcasing the many creative uses of PSE sounds and libraries. From immersive game redesigns and cinematic short films to captivating TikToks and behind-the-scenes reels, it’s inspiring to see our community reach new creative heights.
