Salmon Swimming Sound for Those About to Slosh

Written by PSE | Nov 20, 2012 8:28:14 PM

You're familiar with the plight of the salmon: theirs is a life spent swimming upstream, in both fresh and salt water, plagued all the way by bears and fishermen's nets. The Pacific salmon never repeats this cycle. It makes the round trip to the stream where it hatched, spawns the next generation and dies within a few days. If that weren't existential enough, consider that because of habitual over-harvesting, dam building on migratory rivers and competition with hatchery fish, some of the five Pacific salmon species are currently endangered.
