Pro Sound Effects is proud to introduce the Sound Mountain Collection - a landmark series of sound effects libraries - featuring the unparalleled work of Ann Kroeber and Alan Splet whose innovative approach has been widely influential on the creative use of sound in film.
Through an exclusive partnership many years in the making, we are developing the extensive Kroeber-Splet private archive (known as Sound Mountain) built throughout their careers while working on acclaimed films such as The Black Stallion, Blue Velvet, Dune (1984), and many more. We're honored to make these extraordinary recordings available to the sound community like never before.
Kroeber and her late partner Splet were each hugely influential figures in pioneering the creative use of sound in film and have collaborated with directors such as David Lynch, Peter Weir, Philip Kaufman, and Carroll Ballard over the last 40 years. In the video above, watch directors recount their creative experiences working with each of them, and the innovative recording processes they experimented with to collect the thousands of sounds we get to utilize today.
PSE has previously collaborated with Kroeber to release several specialty libraries, including Cinematic Winds, Industrial Sounds with Soul, Beautiful Bugs, Stallion, Ann's Animals, Cinematic Winds Vol. 2, and Wolves. These now live within the Sound Mountain Collection along with new general libraries Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 - featuring a treasure trove of sonic inspiration curated across hundreds of categories.
Stay tuned for more releases to come!
