Los Angeles-based sound designer, field recordist, and musician Eric Potter has contributed to some of the most important films of our time, and we’re thrilled to welcome him as our latest collaborator. Along with Potter comes Weather Studies, an all-new library of unique rain, wind, and storm sound effects.
A highly versatile Sound Artist, Potter is just as comfortable crafting otherworldly sound design for films like Edward Scissorhands and Blade Runner 2049 as he is recording authentic vehicle sounds for period pieces like Ford v. Ferrari and Dunkirk. When he’s not designing or recording sound effects, he’s conjuring equally unique sounds with his guitar, performing with experimental music groups in LA or recording with artists like Frank Black of The Pixies and Malcolm Mooney of Can.
You may already have heard Potter’s work with his frequent collaborator Richard King in FEEDBACK, but Weather Studies is his first official release as a PSE Sound Artist. Recorded in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, Weather Studies focuses on specific textures of rain, wind, snow, and thunder that you won’t hear anywhere else. From window-shaking storms to wind howling through desert canyons, this library brings a fresh new perspective to one of the most popular sound effects categories.
