If you don't already know their names, you've certainly heard their work.
Well known for their collaboration with David Lynch, Ann Kroeber and Alan Splet’s unique sound effects and design work can be heard in dozens of films spanning multiple decades from countless renowned directors including Peter Weir, Philip Kaufman, and Carroll Ballard. Kroeber and Splet are truly sonic pioneers.
Throughout their careers, Kroeber and her late partner Splet created an extensive (and still growing) private archive of recordings known as Sound Mountain – a sound effects service providing custom selections from the archive for many award-winning films and video games.
We’re proud to announce that Pro Sound Effects has partnered with Ann Kroeber to release an exclusive collection curated from the venerable Kroeber-Splet library: Cinematic Winds is available now for 100% royalty-free use in your productions.
"Because of his good ears and his technical ability, [Alan Splet] would record things that had maximum power...He recorded these beautiful winds, and they are just beautiful. They just make you soar out." – David Lynch (Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Elephant Man, Twin Peaks)
“Of all the sounds from our library, the wind recordings are some of the most iconic and evocative,” says Ann Kroeber. “I value the work Pro Sound Effects has done to make high-quality sound accessible to audio professionals everywhere, so I’m very excited to share this collection.”
Cinematic Winds includes 98 wind recordings with diverse, compelling moods: from eerie, lonely winds; to whirling, buffeting storm winds; to resonant interior winds in stairwells, tents, and pipes; to winds of nature over sand, snow, and water, through trees, mountains, and canyons. These artful sound effects will instantly bring powerful presence or subconscious emotional depth to your productions.
“Ann Kroeber has a unique ability to provide one-of-a-kind sound effects. Both as a recordist, and as the knowledgeable gatekeeper of a vast, renowned library, Ann has given me great sounds that lead to great ideas.” - Gary Rydstrom, Winner of 7 Academy Awards in sound
